CBT-i is a type of therapy for people with insomnia or those who have trouble sleeping. It works by teaching you how to change the way you think and act when it comes to sleep. CBT-i teaches you how to spot the reasons for your sleeplessness and how to manage them so you can overcome them. Clinical studies have shown that CBT-i is effective in treating insomnia.
CBT-i or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia works by learning new ways of thinking and skills for approaching sleep. These skills can include muscle relaxation techniques and visualization. These skills are focused on helping counter stress from day-to-day life and can be used in long extended periods.
One of the benefits of CBT-i is the ability to do therapy offline or online.
Offline CBT-i
Offline sessions are generally done by a psychologist and attended on a regular basis. Commonly during these sessions are open discussion times about ongoing sleep problems and the development of a sleep program based on assessed needs. The follow-up sessions will then be a progress report and various skill-building exercises for stress and sleep

Online CBT-i can be accessed at home through either a session with a therapist or a self-guided app. This option will still provide you with a personalised program but with more flexibility.
