Snoring and sleep apnea are common Sleep-disordered Breathing (SDB) problems that can affect your sleep, health & quality of life.
Approximately one in every five adults have SDB.

In New Zealand, that's just under a million people.

Up to 80% of these are unaware of their condition and remain undiagnosed and untreated.
Snoring and sleep apnea often occur together. Your airway may:

Narrow, limiting airflow as you breathe
Vibrate, commonly heard as snoring
Collapse, so you stop breathing
This third type of change is called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It is the most common type of SDB and incidents may last for 10 seconds or longer.

Recent research shows that snoring and sleep apnoea are associated with many serious conditions.

Left untreated, they are a contributing factor in high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and depression.

More than 35% of people with sleep apnoea suffer from high blood pressure, increasing their risk of heart disease.

In fact 83% of people who still have high blood pressure despite taking three or more drugs, also have sleep apnoea.

Almost 7 out of 10 people who have a stroke have sleep apnoea.

A person with sleep apnoea is 7 times more likely to have a car accident.

A person with sleep apnoea has 5 times the risk of diabetes.

The testing for sleep apnoea is simple and affordable and if proved positive we can direct you to safe and effective treatments that take away the risk and allow you to enjoy your life to the fullest extent for the longest time.
